In order to collect the tribute demanded by the Turks, the Christian governor of Malta confiscates half of the property of all Jews living in Malta. Christopher Marlowe, also known as Kit Marlowe (baptized February 26, 1564 to May 30, 1593), was an English playwright, poet, and translator of the Elizabethan era. Marlowe was the main Elizabethan tragedy of his time. He greatly influenced William Shakespeare, who was born in the same year as Marlowe and who became the pre-eminent Elizabethan playwright after Marlowe's mysterious early death. Marlowe's works are known for the use of blank verse and its leading characters. Some scholars believe that an arrest warrant was issued against Marlowe on May 18, 1593.
