Don't Settle for a Dry Piece of Ground

Pg. 15 ... There is no such thing as a free lunch. If you find a freebie now and then, great, but if you wait for freebies, you wait a long, long time. God's blessings don't just fall out of the sky every day. God blesses people that chase down victory.

Pg. 17 ... Spiritual blessings are the greatest, but God blesses his children in earthly ways too. For example, a wife is a gift from God.

Desiring a loving mate to share life with is good. Marriage is God's design. God wants to bless you.

Pg. 20 ... God loves you. He does not begrudge you a successful life. Some people are misinformed or misunderstand God. They see him as frowning on any goal that is not specifically heaven. They are wrong. God is not against earthly things. He created those things. He enjoys blessing his children. Of course, heaven is the ultimate goal, but you may also enjoy earthly blessings in this life, so don't settle for a dry piece of ground.

Pg. 23 ... Joshua conquering the Promised Land is a great example. God worked with Israel, but they had to fight the enemy. They did not sit in the bleachers and watch God defeat the enemy. They were on the battlefield with God and together they won. They did not settle for a dry piece of land in the wilderness, they wanted more, they went after it, and God blessed them by working with them.

Pg. 27 ... Othniel stuck his neck out. He could have been injured or killed in battle. He did not have a guarantee that he would succeed. But he understood the wisdom of the turtle; he only makes progress when he sticks his neck out. Othniel could not hide in a shell and win Achsah. He had to fight for what he wanted, and God blessed him. God's people don't hide.

Pg. 29 ... Many people have no initiative. They want changes in their life, but they don't offer any serious prayers. I'm not saying that God will automatically grant your every request, but prayer is a good first step. Many people don't enjoy blessing because they only ask in a halfhearted shallow manner. Their inner truth is that they can't wait to get back to their favorite television
