The Last Hyperborean Elephant

MARCUS is in trouble again. There's a new emperor in Rome, and he's eager to pander to the mob. He despatches Marcus on an expedition into the frozen north in search of a new monster to display in the Colosseum, a Hyperborean elephant--the so-called mammut!

Marcus is joined by half-Greek, half-barbarian girl ANDRA, and KARAXTOS, proud prince of the Sarmatians. In search of their quarry they must cross the windswept steppes and surmount the legendary Riphaean Mountains before they can reach the lost kingdom of the Hyperboreans.

And when Marcus enters that intrigue ridden land, he learns that he must journey further north, across the Arctic ice to farthest Thule, before his quest is complete.

THE LAST HYPERBOREAN ELEPHANT is the sequel to the critically acclaimed CROCODILE AND LEOPARD.
