The Innovatory Arts of Richie Gyndall

This musical novel uses twenty-one songs from the sixties, seventies, and eighties. It tells the life story of a young Hindu man who lives in Leicester. He is single and lives at home. He works at a local bank owned by three brothers and, although his family would like him to marry a local girl named Charu, he has feelings for a girl who works with him. The story turns to fantasy when a member of his extended family, a sultan in India, leaves his wealth to Richie on the condition that he is married. An arranged marriage is pursued by his family and neighbours. Will Richie become rich like he thinks and his family have always thought? Will he have to be married in this manner? Or will the fantasies of his overactive mind take him away from his mixed-up life? Will he end up in a world of fantasy, like his favourite film, Gone with the Wind?
