Small Town Adventures

Ever go down to the pond and catch pollywogs as a kid? Do you remember what school was like when you were young? Here are eight short stories that tell of the fun and adventures of children growing up in a small town in the 1950s. Follow along with Wally and Jenny as they ride the little red scooter and play with dominoes. Jenny likes to draw, but her big brother Wally seems to find trouble. Across town, Bobby and his friends make a coaster, fly a kite and go on their favorite ride at the county fair. They also stick together as friends. While building their coaster, Jimmy must leave to practice the piano for Saturday's recital. When Saturday arrives, they all go to hear Jimmy play. Fresh and original, readers and listeners of all ages will enjoy these stories. They contain a bit of nostalgia for the more senior group. Fifth and sixth graders may consider these "chapter books" in their reading assignments. Finally, these could be read to young listeners at bedtime or anytime.
