Montague's Fix

Marty Fenton is an older psychology graduate student at Syracuse University who is struggling to complete his Ph. D. dissertation while moonlighting as a PI. Unfortunately, his primary referral source, Professor Singletary, his advisor, keeps finding pro bono cases for his Marty to solve. In Montague's Fix, Singletary gets Marty caught up with Greg Liakos, who worked for Roland Montague, a successful investor until convicted for conducting a notorious Ponzi scheme. Greg Liakos, a former employee, has been receiving frightening threats warning that him to keep his mouth shut. Claiming innocence, Greg connects Marty encounters to some of the high rollers in Syracuse's financial scene. Some earn their money in legitimate ways. Others, not so much. As Marty continues to dig for answers, the threats escalate, and Marty becomes a target. As if he doesn't have enough on his plate, Marty is tasked by his advisor to help SU women's basketball team find a star players who has gone missing. Montague's Fix, set in Syracuse, New York, is filled with quirky characters, continuously evolving plot lines and a few surprises. Marty, with his wry sense of humor and preference for cerebral exercise, stands in sharp contrast to the hard-boiled and sophisticated big city sleuths that inhabit other mystery novels. This is the fourth book in the Marty Fenton Mystery series.
