The time box

This diary was created thanks to the suggestion of some kids who never had the opportunity to meet their grandparents. The objective of this diary is precisely the one to furnish all the grandparents with an instrument, as well as the occasion, of communicating directly with their nephews and nieces, the ones that are already born and the ones that will maybe be born in the future, telling their story in first person. A gift that can also be read and appreciated many years from now and that will allow grandparents who will never have the chance, to interact with their adult grandchildren physically and communicate with them overcoming space/ time barriers. It will also allow them to accompany them through the journey of growing up with advice, reflections or suggestions. I kindly ask you to treat this diary with care, take all the time you think is necessary to write on it and fill it in. You can also write down special letters for particular occasions, for example, a grandchild's 18th birthday, a graduation or job specialization, for their wedding or to even just write down advice and guidance tips to read in case of a new son or daughter being born, sadness, nostalgia or success being achieved. The first part of the diary invites you to tell something about your life story (when and where you were born, what your parents' names were and what relationship you had with them. How your childhood and adolescence was, what your favourite games and activities were and your passions. When or how you met grandma or grandpa and got married, etc.). It then asks you to choose some pictures or photographs and carefully sticking them on the diary pages and describe them. You will also find a page in which you will be able to spray your favorite perfume and say something about it, and another page which will be dedicated to the most technologic grandparents (or the ones that will be able to count on the help of a son or grandchild who has a technology passion), who might want to leave a YouTube video with a message, maybe even made with the help of the son or nephew themselves. The second part is dedicated to the special letters, the ones that will be kept private until a certain date (for example one that should be opened on their 18th birthday or one that shouldn't be opened until their 40th birthday) or for a certain occasion (wedding, graduation, moment of sadness or melancholy, the birth of a child and so on). Finally, in the last part of this diary, you find some covers to draw, color in and cut out that can be put on top of the special letters and then stapled on each page in order to keep their message safe until the right moment. You will obviously be allowed to choose other covers (in a different material, with a different type of paper etc.) to personalize or make this diary even more precious. The questions are written in big letters (Garamond font) to assure maximum readability even to those with eyesight problems. Now it's time to start thinking about what to write. Take your time, you're filling in a sort of time capsule that your grandchildren, if wanted, will read and reread during their particular and unique walk through life, feeling you close in both moments of happiness and difficulty.
