Twelve Years a Slave
Solomon Northup
Solomon Northup, was a black American abolitionist who was born free and became famous for being kidnapped in 1841, when he was attending a job interview. While he was accompanying his supposed employers to the District of Columbia, they drugged him and sold him as a slave. He was transferred to New Orleans and delivered to the owner of a plantation in Rapides Parish, in Louisiana, where he began a period of captivity that lasted twelve years, until he won his freedom in 1853. He was one of the few enslaved kidnappers who got your freedom.
