"Beyond the Backseat," is a nostalgic look back at the 1950s and 1960s to the time when I "came of age." Boys were boys and girls were girls and behaved accordingly. Dating consisted of first stopping by a fast food Drive-In like the Dairy Mart in my Texas hometown, and then later at Abilene, Texas, where I attended Hardin-Simmons University. After a hamburger, fries and coke for around 60 cents, it was on to the Drive-In Movie Theater for thrills both on the screen and in the car. Going steady was a staple for teenagers and puppy love was on the menu with close contact of reasonable intimacy for most. My classic poetry nostalgically reflects my experiences and feelings, as well as those of the majority of clean-cut American youth. My generation all concurs that it was a wonderful time of life with dreams generated, relationships enjoyed, and with love saturating the night air.
