Four thousand years after society collapses, the last of civilization is centered in a post-apocalyptic Asia. The Great Nine nations govern: the Varanus of the Iron Coast, the Aquilas of Ba'cyn, the Ursus of Sylbeorn, the Pantheras of Ardera, the Orcinus of the Iyistar Islands, the Mustels of Kuthys, the Equus of Veslos, the Lupus of Jalin, and the Vulpes of Ceolar. The leaders of each nation are called the Bakarrum, men and women who are stronger, smarter, and possess powers unlike the rest of the human population. Their sole purpose is to protect their people and nations, and for four thousand years, they did just that. But power does not come without greed. When the Ursus decide they want more, the Ianvo Georliam invades the other nations and slaughters the Bakarrum. With the other leaders gone, Georliam takes over the continent and calls the singular nation URSA. There's one thing that Georliam didn't take into account: the children of the Bakarrum he slaughtered. Among them is eighteen-year-old Pacie, the heiress of the Pantheras, and her five siblings, believed to have been killed with their mother during the Invasion. Young Pacie, having grown up sheltered from her true identity by her adopted father, Orus, soon learns that, along with an entire nation, she has also inherited a legion of powers that no Bakarrum has ever seen before. With the help of friends and allies, Pacie and the other Bakarrum lead their nations back towards the balance that once was. Amidst the plans to fight back, the young rulers must learn what it means to lead, love, and sacrifice. Peak of the Panthers is a fantasy dystopian epic, exploring what it means to be a leader and what it means to be family. It is the start of Protectors of the Earth, a trilogy of trilogies. Two more novels will follow to conclude the epic War of the Bakarrum, and then two more trilogies will follow, containing the same characters but adding new conflicts and adversaries.
