A Creature of the Night - Annotated

One evening in late-nineteenth-century Verona, when a young Englishman loses his way and finds himself lost in an eerie graveyard, he sees a mysterious woman emerge from one of the tombs. Following her to a deserted mansion where he witnesses a murder worthy of the Borgias. How can such a crime take place undetected in the prosaic nineteenth century? And is the woman a vampire? a ghoul? or an altogether more earthly villain...?
