A Night Like Any Other: nine made up stories and two truthful legends

The stories included in this book, install us in the real world in which, however, surprising singularities can happen when invoking the imagination of the reader--that complicity always necessary between the writer and those who read him--, they turn us into faithful and amazed witnesses of ghostly events, of accidental and inexplicable stays, of familiar and futuristic anecdotes based on the miracle of immortality, which is not always desired, in sensuality as the food of eternal life, in objects that literally transform people, including their past.
Heirs of the most fantastic stories by Bradbury, Bierce and Borges, among others, the stories of Víctor Monsiváis, demonstrate that this literary tradition --that of unleashing the imagination from good writing, to free the reader's imagination-- is still valid, fortunately.
Written in a sober, measured style, as if the author were telling simple anecdotes to a group of listeners in front of a fireplace, these pages show us once again that between fiction and reality, if even for fleeting moments, the borders vanish.
