Margrete The First (Film on Danish)
Large, historical Danish drama about Margrete the First - starring Trine Dyrholm.
The year is 1402, and a woman is at the head of a new Nordic empire. Margrete I has united Denmark, Norway and Sweden in a union, which she rules single-handedly through her adopted son, King Erik. The union is surrounded by enemies, and Margrete therefore plans a marriage between Erik and the English Princess Philippa. An alliance with England could strengthen the Kalmar Union and secure it against attack. But a conspiracy is afoot, and it puts Margrete in an impossible dilemma that could cost her everything.
The cast of Margrete the First also includes names like Søren Malling and Jakob Oftebro. The film is directed by Charlotte Sieling, who has previously directed several episodes of the TV series Rejseholdet, Krøniken, Forbrydelsen, Broen and Borgen.
