Fontaines D.C. | Romance

"ROMANCE", the latest album from Fontaine's DC, marks their first collaboration with acclaimed producer James Ford. This is by far the band's most innovative and sonically diverse work to date. After topping the UK and Irish charts with the critically acclaimed 'Skinty Fia' from 2022 and winning 'International Group of the Year' at the BRIT Awards 2023, the band continue their musical journey with 'ROMANCE'. The album presents a wide range of musical experimentation across 11 tracks and reflects a myriad of ideas from members Grian Chatten (vocals), Carlos O'Connell (guitar), Conor Curley (guitar), Conor Deegan (bass) and Tom Coll (drums).

The inspirations for "ROMANCE" were further developed during the band's North American tour with Arctic Monkeys, where they exchanged musical and artistic influences: the attitude and aesthetic of acts like Shygirl and Sega Bodega, as well as the sonic palettes of hip-hop and heavy metal through artists like Mos Def, A$AP Ferg, OutKast and Korn.

Following the conclusion of their US arena tour in autumn 2023, Fontaine's DC took a month to write new songs together. This was followed by three weeks of pre-production in a North London studio and an intensive recording period at a chateau near Paris, where the band lived and breathed their music, culminating in the creation of 'ROMANCE'.
