Amyl And The Sniffers | Cartoon Darkness
Third album from the trailblazing punk rock band. Recorded with producer Nick Launay (Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds, Yeah Yeah Yeah Yeahs) at Foo Fighters' 606 Studios in Los Angeles, "Cartoon Darkness" is, according to frontwoman Amy Taylor, an album about the climate crisis, the tense intersection of AI and politics, and the paradoxical feeling of having a voice online when all we do is feed into the wallets of Big Tech, the “Gods” of our time.
We provide endless amounts of our attention to stuff that doesn't lead to any lasting fulfilment or joy. Just indifference and numbness. It may sound like an almost dystopian work, but it's framed by the black humour and irony of their punk DNA. As Amy puts it: ‘The future is cartoon, the prescription is dark, but it's novelty. It's just a joke. It's fun.’
