Perfume Genius | Glory

On his new album ‘Glory’, Perfume Genius reunites with long-time collaborator producer Blake Mills and keyboard player and co-songwriter Alan Wyffels. It also features an incredible group of musicians who have previously played with Hadreas both on the road and in the studio, including guitarists Meg Duffy (Hand Habits) and Greg Uhlmann, drummers Tim Carr and Jim Keltner, and bassist Pat Kelly. Last but not least, Perfume Genius will be joined by none other than singer-songwriter Aldous Harding.

Having considered writing as an isolated practice for much of his career, Hadreas opened up to more collaboration with the musicians who worked on the project during the making of 'Glory'. The result is a more driving musical foundation for Hadreas' stories. The album contains themes that he has artistically explored and worked with throughout his career - themes of the body and its decay, of home and love, and of inevitable history and damage. There is also a reappearance of some of Hadreas' previous characters, including Jason. But ‘Glory’ is written from a new perspective - on the other side of the battle, where you are left to come to terms with everything that has happened, but also learn to live in a quiet and unknown space.
