The Running Man (2025)
The Running Man is a new, modern reimagining of the iconic sci-fi thriller that originally starred Arnold Schwarzenegger. The Running Man (2025) is directed by Edgar Wright, known for films such as Baby Driver and Shaun of the Dead, and features Glen Powell in the lead role.
Based on Stephen King’s dystopian novel, the film is set in a near-future society where a brutal reality show serves as the state’s ultimate form of entertainment: contestants are hunted live on television, and survival equals freedom. The story follows Ben Richards, an ordinary man pushed into extreme choices, who is forced to take part in the game and gradually becomes a symbol of rebellion against a system built on fear and spectacle.
The new The Running Man (2025) differs significantly from the 1987 version by staying closer to the novel’s darker tone and sharp social critique, focusing on media manipulation, violence as entertainment, and the individual’s struggle against those in power.
Glen Powell is joined by a strong supporting cast that includes Josh Brolin and Colman Domingo.
