Natalie Imbruglia | Firebird
Firebird is the sixth studio album from the Australian-British singer Natalie Imbruglia and was released on September 24, 2021. The album marked her first release with entirely new, original material in six years since the album 'Male' (2015) and her first album with her own songs in over a decade.
Firebird was primarily written during an extended period of writer's block, which Imbruglia subsequently overcame during a series of songwriting sessions in London, Nashville, Oxford, and Los Angeles. She collaborated with a wide array of renowned songwriters and producers, including Albert Hammond Jr. (from The Strokes), Romeo Stodart (from The Magic Numbers), KT Tunstall, Eg White, Fiona Bevan, and the production duo MyRiot. The songs on the album cover themes such as independence, vulnerability, motherhood, and personal rebirth.
Commercially, the album peaked at number 10 on the official British album chart (UK Albums Chart), which was her first top 10 album in the UK since Counting Down the Days in 2005.
