Bernard Haitink conducts the London Philharmonic Orchestra in this production of Stravinsky's opera, recorded at the 1975 Glyndebourne Festival. Tom Rakewell (Leo Goeke) leaves his true love Anne (Felicity Lott) for the bright lights of London. He makes a deal with Nick Shadow (Samuel Ramey), selling his soul in return for a year and a day's pleasure.
When the day of reckoning arrives, however, Tom is reluctant to complete his side of the bargain.
