Good -- Mr. Big -- Shy Boy recorded October 29, 1993 at Shinjuku Kouseinenkin Kaikan Hall, Tokyo Widely considered one of the very best hard rock/heavy metal bass players, Billy Sheehan founded Mr. Big in 1989 after a jam session with guitarist Paul Gilbert. Before that, Sheehan had gathered experience with his own power trio Talas and in David Lee Roth’s solo band. Backed by a major label contract, Mr. Big released their self-tiled debut album in 1989, including the singles Big Love and Addicted To That Rush. Their breakthrough came in 1992 when the acoustic ballad To Be With You stormed the global charts, topping the hit lists in the US and Germany. The best-selling single of their career was a cover version of Cat Stevens’s Wild World in 1993. At that time, they were most famous in Japan where they ranged among the most popular international artists. This 1993 live show at Tokyo’s Shinjuku Kouseinenkin Kaikan Hall is impressive evidence of the incredible enthusiasm of the Japanese audience.
