Widely considered one of the very best hard rock/heavy metal bass players, Billy Sheehan founded Mr. Big in1989 after a jam session with guitarist Paul Gilbert. Before that, Sheehan had gathered experience with his own power trio „Talas” and in David Lee Roth’s solo band. Backed by a major label contract, Mr. Big released their self-tiled debut album in 1989, including the singles “Big Love” and “Addicted To That Rush”. Their breakthrough came in 1992 when the acoustic ballad ”To Be With You” stormed the global charts, topping the hit lists in the US and Germany. The best-selling single of their career was a cover version of Cat Stevens’s “Wild World” in 1993. At that time, they were most famous in Japan where they ranged among the most popular international artists.
