She was then accused by British police of fleeing the country by donning a red wig and posing as part of a mime troupe in Canada.

Years later, she made the news again when a Korean scientist allegedly cloned her dog, producing five puppies. Then, in 2008, McKinney faced burglary charges in Tennessee while trying to raise funds to buy a false leg for her three-legged horse.
