Rainy Afternoon At The Flicks Collection

Collection of films from the 1940s, '50s and '60s, also featuring short features and adverts from the time. In 'Shadow of Fear' (1963) Bill (Paul Maxwell), an American returning home from Baghdad, becomes embroiled in a secret service assignment that goes awry and is forced to flee to the south coast of Britain with his girlfriend. In 'Identity Unknown' (1960), following an aeroplane accident two reporters sent to cover the incident find themselves falling for one another.

In 'The Promise' (1952) a young social worker tries to figure out what motivated the recently deceased Mr Townsend. In 'Fools Rush In' (1955) a married couple set about retrieving a stolen shipment of diamonds with hopes of gaining a generous reward. In 'Passing Clouds' (1941), following the death of his fiancée, Laurie Baxter (Derek Farr) attempts to make contact with her from beyond the grave by consulting with a group of spiritualists.

In 'You Will Remember' (1941) Robert Morley stars as English composer Leslie Stuart, whose popularity begins to diminish with the emergence of jazz music. In 'The Adventures of Jane' (1949), based on the wartime comic strip of the same name, Christabel Leighton-Porter stars in the title role. Jane finds herself on the wrong side of a gang of criminals in Brighton and relies on the help of her faithful dachshund Fritz to evade their clutches.

In 'That Brennan Girl' (1946) Ziggy Brennan (Mona Freeman) follows in her mother's footsteps as a petty thief, however, when she falls in love with an honest American soldier she finds herself questioning the ethics of her previous lifestyle choices. In 'Thunder Rock' (1942) journalist David Charleston (Michael Redgrave) becomes increasingly frustrated by the lack of public concern around Germany's rearmament and decides to leave Britain to work in a remote lighthouse in North America.
