Adaptation of J. G. Ballard's controversial experimental novel directed by Jonathan Weiss. A doctor in a mental research institution undergoes his own mental breakdown and surrenders to psychosis.

Losing sense of reality, he relives the worst excesses of 20th-century technology, pornography, violence, sex and death and contemplates starting World War III. The film includes footage of Hiroshima, the Vietnam War and the Kennedy assassination to illustrate the central character's breakdown. Victor Slezak, Anna Juvander and Michael Kirby star.
