Enchantee

"Since my childhood I've been absolutely passionate about musical theatre," says the young French singer Marie Oppert. "It's a genre whose magical power to tell a story through theatre, song and dance I find utterly compelling."

Now in her early twenties, Marie - who trained in musical theatre in both Paris and New York - made her breakthrough in a 2014 Paris production of Les Parapluies de Cherbourg with soprano Natalie Dessay and composer Michel Legrand. An Erato DVD of the show followed soon afterwards.

Enchantée embraces Broadway, Hollywood and music from France, with numbers by, among others, Rodgers and Hammerstein, Lerner and Loewe, George and Ira Gershwin, Stephen Sondheim, Harold Arlen, Elton John, Michel Legrand and Charles Trenet.

Marie Oppert is joined by the Orchestre National de Lille and conductor Nicholas Skilbeck. Making guest appearances are Natalie Dessay and Broadway star Melissa Errico - singers Marie describes as her "fairy godmothers".
