Future Preachers Club (FPC) is a collaboration of various artists. The studio manifestation includes two people: Andrew Lawless and Absence (aka Mike Riever). The project exists across state boundaries (Arizona and Oregon) and is a long time in the making. Andrew and Absence have been working together since the early 90's. Past collaborations between these two artists include: the devastatingly hard experimental group Guano, and the even more obscure Machine Art Sextet. These two projects broke sonic barriers and simultaneously bewildered and entertained audiences in the Tempe music scene. Andrew and Absence eventually followed different paths, Andrew to Germany where he developed an appetite for electronic music and Absence to the Pacific Northwest where he honed his beat mastering and producing chops. The kinship and luv for music was too strong, so the two eventually joined forces to create Future Preachers Club in 2003, after Andrew returned to the States. Live manifestations of Future Preachers Club are in the works for the Phoenix area. Andrew is currently working with long time-amigo and drummer, Sergio Montalvo, from the pounding yet quirky guitar band "An Aesthetic," to develop a live set. Absence is busy running his independent label (Transparent Productions) in Portland, OR and performing with his crew. The self-titled debut album for Future Preachers Club is scheduled for release in Dec. 2005, and the follow up recording is already under way. Check it out and spread the luv that is the Future Preachers Club.
