Chat Pile
The highly anticipated follow-up to Chat Pile's 2022 breakthrough "God's Country". The band, known for their sludgy, noise rock sound, explores an even broader thematic landscape in Cool World. While their previous record focused on the decaying state of the American heartland, Cool World expands its scope to tackle global disasters and their interconnected impact. According to vocalist Raygun Busch, the album deals with the harsh realities of modern life, confronting "the price at which we eat sugar in America," symbolizing the hidden costs behind everyday comforts.
Musically, the album pushes Chat Pile’s experimental boundaries further. While it maintains the band’s trademark aggressive, abrasive noise rock, Cool World incorporates influences from goth, shoegaze, and alt-rock. The band brings in Ben Greenberg (known for his work with Uniform and Metz) to handle mixing duties, enhancing their signature chaotic edge while allowing space for more varied textures.
