ontinuing the chronology of one of the greatest pianists and exuberantly funny entertainers of the first half of the 20th Century. By the time of the opening tracks here, Fats had married Edith, separated from her (she was in constant pursuit of him for alimony) and had set up a new household in New York with the more tolerant Anita. He was a leading recording star, appeared frequently on radio and was almost continually taking a show on tour. He had also appeared to good effect in a couple of Hollywood movies. His records sold not only in North America, they were in demand throughout the free world. Even though recording sessions were fitted into a schedule that included touring, radio shows and the occasional movie, Fats Waller's creative and performing gifts rarely let him down, as can be heard on this wonderful 102-track set - remastered and compiled as usual by renowned music restorer Ted Kendall.
