Released in May 2000, Whistling in the Dark was nominated for the Washington Area Music Association's 'WAMMIE' award for 'Best Debut Recording' of 2000. This marks Michelle's fourth WAMMIE nomination - her peers also nominated her for 'Best New Artist' in 1998, and 'Songwriter of the Year' as well as 'Best Contemporary Folk Vocalist' for the year 2002.
