Barney Wilen Quintet – Guilde du Jazz J-1239
The French saxophonist Barney Wilen recorded his first album as a leader in 1957 at the age of 20: 'The Barney Wilen Quintet' for the US label Guilde du Jazz/Jazztone with the number J-1239. Unfortunately, this record was not widely distributed in France, as Barney was under contract to the French label Vogue. Nevertheless, his career took off that same year when Miles Davis hired him to record the soundtrack for the Louis Malle film 'Elevator to the Gallows'.
