In 1961, the Berlin Jazz Festival welcomed the dazzling troupe of Stan Getz and Astrud Gilberto with Gary Burton, Chuck Israel and Roy Hayne - probably unaware that this would be one of their last appearances together, with Burton on vibraphone.The evening's programme was beautifully put together, alternating between extravagant standards with exuberant solos, intoxicating ballads in which Getz demonstrated his lyrical singing, and compositions by Gary Burton in which the vibraphonist showed off his subtle harmonic world.
