Black Light White Light
Mining the rich territories of The Velvet Underground and early Pink Floyd with 90’s Madchester movement and classic 4AD sound the Danish/Swedish indie rock group Black Light White Light show, that contemporary psychedelic indie rock can be more than droning noise shrouded in reverb. With the 3rd album Horizons, Black Light White Light prove that it is still possible to create an album full of memorable pop songs twisting it all up a with a touch of vibrating darkness creating something comprehensive. Based in Malmo, Sweden the musical (solo) project is centered on the Danish singer, guitarist and songwriter Martin Ejlertsen, who founded the band in Copenhagen in 2010.
Taking inspiration from Creation Records-era as well as in orchestred French pop like Air and Serge Gainsbourg while finding thematically inspiration in for example Danish director Nicolas Winding Refn’s (Pusher, Drive, The Neon Demon) bloody self-destruction creating dead, altered images as beautiful, as well as in ex-Beatle George Harrison’s approach on ’All Things Must Pass’ creating art on a clean canvas in a undisturbed, private space, Horizons definitely presents something more - if not even something else - than Black Light White Light were before.
