Edna Gallmon Cooke
Edna Gallmon Cooke was, in all probability, the greatest female gospel star to emerge during the 1950s and 1960s. She combined the down home sound of rural preaching with a vocal style of elevated grace. Edna's sermons and anointed style pave the way for later queens of gospel such as Shirley Caesar and Dorothy Norwood, and LeAndria Johnson in the present era. Gospel Friend has compiled recordings from Edna's entire career from 1948-1966. 25 tracks including the hits "Angels, Angels, Angels" and "Walk Through The Valley" with an assortment of rare tracks appearing for the first time on CD.
