Gare Du Nord
In the period before their breakthrough with Sex 'n' Jazz, three international albums by Gare du Nord appeared to be cherished by the many fans of the first hour. The debut album (in search of) Excellounge with the European hit Pablo's Blues appeared in the slipstream of St Germain's Tourist and became a classic in the genre. Successor Kind Of Cool contained - in addition to the title song in the best Miles Davis tradition - the film hit Sold My Soul. The successful Club Gare Du Nord had a remarkable contribution by trumpet player Erik Truffaz in the classic We Still Grow and the catchy Becker / Fagen adaptation Go Back, Jack.
Although the three albums reached the gold status, they weren't available for ten years. The reason for this lay in the fact that producers Barend Fransen and Ferdi Lancee wanted to keep the analog sound of the tracks for a reissue on vinyl. Now the time has come: Fresh From the Can contains an exclusive selection from the "French" period of Gare du Nord, for which the original tracks were specially remastered for vinyl. Added to the album is the long version version of Rock Your Baby, recorded with the original singer George McCrae, that can't be found on any other release. Fresh From The Can, packed in new artwork inspired by Andy Warhol, offers a complete side for each of the three albums to preserve the original sound and atmosphere. Side four contains classic hits from the platinum albums Sex 'n' Jazz and Love For Lunch.
