With a musical background that has encompassed Hip-Hop and song composition, via Skate-Punk and Metal, it is quite a surprise to experience the deep and often dulcet tones of Piemont's modern productions. Students of sound design and mastering, Frederic Möring-Sack and Christian Jonquieres, have been releasing music under a number of guises on their own label, Suchtreflex since 2007. Their work as Phunklarique, Dejonka and now Piemont, has won them a huge fanbase, headed by many of the DJ world's leading lights. Their brand of abstract funk and soul is unquestionably addictive, and with their second full length album, "Sand Hills", due to drop in April, the boys are in sparkling form. Today's two tracker is only the second release on their brand new label Plumbum, and features two band new productions. On the A and with an acute attention for detail, Piemont present us with "Involved". A rolling march through the wild. With bird noise, the scything roar of a gorilla and a weighty bassline. We are drawn through the undergrowth, with the delightful organ drops invoking memories of classic Kong and Tarzan movies. On the flip the duo get there fidget on. A growling bassline, sci-fi bleeps and moody synth waves, make for a solid tech number.
