There is hardly any other track so closely connected to Sven Väth’s twelfth Ibiza season, like “Adonis” by Alex Ridha aka Boys Noize. With his fusion of Energy Disco with massive percussions and Chicago memories, “Adonis” fitted just perfectly to the intensive late summer we had. But there’s still more to come, and so Cocoon Recordings are offering no less than five congenial versions: on the vinyl edition we find, besides the original version, the first remix of “Stone Breaker” Mark E, DJ and producer from Birmingham who recently had the honour to do an album on the well-respected US label Spectral Sound. He skilfully transfers “Adonis” into a hypnotic House opus with a recognisable Detroit pinch. And besides that he opens an After Hour-compatible Motorcity Cosmic Disco with his slower Acid Dub Mix, which is the second Mark E remix, included in the digital version only. Likewise only featured in the digital version and also no stranger to the community is the Frenchman Terence Fixmer. Being well-known as the innovator of a sound symbiosis between Industrial, EBM and Techno (for International Deejay Gigolo, Planete Rouge and Electric Deluxe, among others), he purges the track to a vibrant form of Dark Acid with spare vocals and thus catapults the Acid Trance of the Nineties into the modern age. The Cocoon homie Patrick Kunkel interprets “Adonis” significantly more percussive and takes up the summery atmosphere of the original without ever losing his personal artistic handwriting, while Djedjotronic, companion of Popof and highly promising newcomer on Ridha’s Boys Noize label, puts the exceptional qualities of the track in a nutshell, with his compact edit.
