Chase Rivers had first met Katherine HIghtower in a dream. He did not think her real. But the Shaman of his tribe, Burning Tree, had arranged their meeting to keep them together. The dreams were erotic and Chase at first rejected them. But once he met Katherine and saw her predicament, he wanted to help. Burning Tree told him her had to bring her back to the tribe she was related to. Katherine knew nothing of the relation.
