Jemma Lawson had grown up with Jimmy Hawk at Fort Griffin. Jimmy Hawk was an Arapaho Indian but Jemma considered him just a boy. They were best friends until he went off to college. When he came back though things had changed. She was a white girl to Jimmy now, and he was an Indian. Jemma couldn't accept this. She'd treated him like any other boy all her life. But JImmy had saved her from countless accidents. He had become her hero over the years. Now he was intentionally putting her in her place. And that might have been alright if she hadn't been falling in love with him all that time.
