Aromatherapy and Marital Satisfaction

The aim of this study was to determine the effectiveness of aromatherapy in increasing marital satisfaction in couples in Sirjan. The statistical population of the present study included all couples referring to counseling clinics in Sirjan from which 30 couples were selected by available sampling method and were randomly divided into experimental and control groups. The experimental group was given jasmine essential oil and asked to inhale it for 10 days and nights before going to bed and early in the morning, and the control group was not given any fragrance. The method of this research was quasi-experimental with a pretest-posttest design with a control group. The measurement tool of this study was Enrich Marital Satisfaction Questionnaire. In this study, the method of analysis of covariance was used. The results showed that after presenting Jasmine essential oil to the experimental group, compared to the control group who did not receive any fragrance, marital satisfaction, marital relationship, conflict resolution and improved sexual relations had increased.
