The Catholic Abuse of Filipino Women

I visited five places in the Philippines and everywhere saw severe poverty, with seemingly no way to escape it. The moment I walked out of a hotel in Cebu I was swarmed by gaunt little children begging, with their mothers following closely behind them. I began to wonder what all the places I had visited had in common and why countries like China and Thailand appeared to be doing so much better. Then it dawned on me that the Catholic Church enjoys as much power in the Philippines as anywhere else in the world.
