In my time I have Sailed the 2,000 miles of shoreline on the Salish Sea (Puget Sound). I lived aboard for 11 years and lived on the beach for 17 years. The Salish Sea has been a constant since I was a child. My father took me sailing from Edmonds to Skunk Bay where our beach cabin was located. We were in an old leaky non-descript wooden vessel which was less than 20 feet long. I watched the stars through the hatch and saw the fog come in the morning, while we were at anchor. I was amazed that we floated on the water as fishing boats moved around us in the dark. They were kept away by a single white lantern which my father lit and hoisted to the top of the mast. I learned at eight years-old, to trust and enjoy being on the water.
