He didn't write the mos big hits, but he did write quite a few. He was just popular. A man of the common people. Southern bred. Picked cotton. Was in the military service. Started with Sun Records in Memphis along with Jerry Lee Lewis, Carl Perkins, and Elvis Presley. He married into the legendary Carter Family who basically started Country Music.
