Andy Foster and his Solarans have determinedthat the invasion heading toward Earth is thework of one madman, Florin Mer Dael. Thechallenge is that Dael is proving to be somewhatdifficult to find and time is running out for anumber of worlds that Dael wants to destroy. In the meantime, the number of inhabitedworlds that are exposed to potential harm isincreasing and the Solarans have indicationsthat there may be other survivors of theterror Dael has already unleashed. Andy is also painfully aware of the shortageof personnel and equipment needed to deliver the protection umbrella that the Solaransintend to provide. There is evidence that there are other forces at large that will make the Solaran's job even more difficult. So in addition tofinding a planetary scale mass-murderer, theymust adjust to the need for a larger presence to cover a much larger area.
